Quick question about enableing DMA on Hard drive

I have a deckstar 20 gig IBM and notice that DMA was not enabled. I thought I would enable it to see if I got any
difference in preformance. When I clicked on the DMA box I got one of Microsucks ( win 98 ) "Unsupported hardware alerts ". Made reference to bad things might happen if I do this or some such drivel. It this a standard message or is it something I should pay attention to.

Standard message. Usually only applies to laptops and/or machines using power save features.
