Quick Question about ASUS Dual Channel DDR

I am about to buy the ASUS P4P800-Deluxe mobo (with Intel 865PE/ICH5R chipset), but I read this in a review:

Under the North Bridge there are 4 DIMM slots, all partitioned into two groups, with two slots in each group. Unlike the Granite Bay motherboards, the company positioned memory in the following manner: the first and second slots relate to the first memory controller channel, with the third and fourth to the second channel. As a result, to enable the dual-channel memory access, two modules in both channels must be there. To make the assembly operator's job easier, DIMM slots are colored differently - it is recommended to install the modules into the slots of a matching color.

The text in bold is what confuses me. Does this mean that I need 4 sticks to run dual channel? I already bought a 1GB kit (2x512MB sticks) of Kingston HyperX PC3200... Also, if I only need 2 sticks, what slots do I put them in to run dual channel?

Cliffnotes:
1. In the Asus P4P800-Deluxe motherboard, do you need four sticks of memory to run dual channel (which is the way I interpreted it), or can you run 2 (which is the way all the other motherboards are)?
2. If you can run 2 sticks for dual channel, what slots do you put them in? 1 and 2, or 1 and 3 (or something else)?
3. Can someone with this motherboard confirm that dual-channel works with 2 sticks of ram?

Thanks in advance, Josh

1. Dual channel works with two modules. The review is a misprint.
2. The manual will show which slots. It will probably be 1 and 3 and if you added another pair of sticks they would populate 2 and 4.

Edit: Just looked at the pic. To enable dual channel simply put a stick in each of the blue slots. If you were to get an additional two sticks you would put them in the black slots.

I just installed a P4P800 Deluxe in my new rig thursday night, and I am writing this message on it. One I think it is an awesome motherboard, I am very happy with it for the price I paid, and I think you will enjoy it a lot.

Now to answer your question you only need 2 DIMMs to run in dual channel, and the memory slots go like this a blue, a black, a blue, a black. Asus recommends you use the blue first, so pop one DIMM in each of the blue slots and your set!

fredtam and axeman, thanks for the quick help. I've been "itching" to buy the parts for my new rig (Asus P4P800-Deluxe and P4 2.6C), but I just needed to double-check. I have read a lot of reviews on the board, and it really sounds like the best board for most people in this price range. So thanks again!
