Hey guys,

I have an AMD 1800XP overclocked to 2.15 ghz @ 166 fsb...effectively ~ 3100XP (according to CPUID). Will my system be cpu limited? Would it make sense to go from a 9700 pro to a 6800 GT considering my cpu? Thanks guys...I have my finger on the submit button on the Amazon deal.

Wow. So, um, what's the minimum cpu I should be looking at? AMD64+? Would it make sense to get a Barton 2500 and maybe overclock that? Or would the Barton still not be enough. This is depressing, I just upgraded in November and it felt fast then...

Although the card in this review was an XT800pro tested with different levels of cpus, you should expect similar results with a 6800GT. It's rather dependent on resolution, eye candy levels, and the particular games themselves.

Okay. Sweet. Good to know General. I would've balked on the video card if it meant making a mobo purchase to accomodate a AMD64 or a P4.

It will be somewhat CPU limited, depends on resoution, and game settings. But going from a 9700 pro to 6800 gt would be most wise if you want to play Doom 3. When it comes to games, the GPU always matters more, your processor probably won't 'cap' your fps.
This should give you some idea of how much the processor effects games.

Exactly. It will make a major improvement with your set up none the less.
