acer seems better overall (response time, brightness), but gateway has DVI and better viewing angle. both seem to be 8bit panels with same contrast ratio. i really like DVI, and i dunno how much to trust those response times 😛

I've had the Acer AL1912b for a few months now and I'm still very pleased with it. I originally got it at newegg for $279 shipped on a one day sale. It has no bad pixels and the color and clarity are very good. It is listed in the specs as 16.7m colors, so I assume it is 8-bit color at 16ms. I've run monitor test programs and it shows it running at 16.5ms response. All test patterns reproduce very good. The only game I play is Tiger Woods 2003 and it looks and plays great. I see no problems when running 3Dmark 2001 & 2003 to see what other games might look like on it. Even though it does not have DVI, I'm not sure if I would see any difference if it did.
