Quick Q: Missed a credit card payment by 3 days. I pay the entire amount generated on the interest - or the daily rate?

My annual interest rate on the card is 17.97%, the daily rate 0.04909%. The payment date was the 3rd, I paid an hour ago. What's the deal?

wait for them to send you a bill for something like $0.23 and then call and yell at them for spending more on time and postage than your account had as the balance

Yeah, I think complaining will be the key. I wholly acknowledge it's my fault but this was a rather large bill, so if I can get them to credit me this one time I'll be happy.

You pay compounding interest, the daily rate, on the ADB (average daily balance).

Unless we're talking about a huge bill, any late fee will probably exceed the finance charges.

Why would they credit you because you don't know how to pay your bills on time?

Oh quit being a jackass. I said I know it was my fault, but if I can work the strings of customer service in my favour, I will. Grow up.

Some CC companies do that as a one time courtesy, when the payment is late only by a couple a days. Human makes mistakes all the time.

Yea, the person telling me that they will manipulate customer service because they paid a cc bill 3 days after it was due to get out of the $XXX amount of interest they owe should really tell me to grow up.

I'll second that comment.

Anyway as someone already said your card may give you a grace period. If they don't well then you did pay late so suck it up and take it like a man.

You need a lower interest rate card if you are gonna carry a balance.

Bwaaaaaaaa ha ha hahahah haaaaaaa!

LMAO!

3 days late? Say hello to all the interest accrued on the daily balance since the day of purchase, and a $30 late fee to boot.

Back in the olden days--say, 1999--they used to offer a 5 to 10 day grace period past the due date, but not anymore.

I know serious, most everyone here acts like they never made a mistake before.
They're all perfect.

Anyway, did you make the payment by mail or net ??
When I used to mail mine in, I used the excuse of moving and then give them my parents address as the new one.
Then after 3 months or so, I'd change it back to the current one.
Works everytime.
