If I'm not interested in the firewire or IDE raid is there any other good reason to get the deluxe version of the P4P800? I don't want to pay $75 extra for features I don't want, but if there is some other advantage I'm not seeing, could you please point it out?

I'm pushing the "Buy" button tonight and would like this cleared up, the only reason I can find by reading the forum and reviews is the extra features and "It Rocks Dude"

I bought the non-deluxe version and the only thing that would have wanted in the deluxe was the SATA cables. Other than that I'm happy without all the other extras

The extra HD channel is useful, but given your response, I'd say stick w/ the non-deluxe. I'd recommend you get the P4C800-E over both. It's worth a few extra dollars for a better board, but along those lines I'd even wait until Prescott release because:
1. Price drop
2. Guaranteed ability to upgrade to a Prescott in the future. Without that, you have a dead end board.

Yeah, an extra HD channel would be nifty, but I could buy one later if I needed it.

I don't think that Newegg has the P4P800-E in a non deluxe version, I'll look.

I usually stay a step or so behind tech wise, it costs less, I'm running a 1.6 gig P4 right now @2.4 gigs and have been for more than a year. Plus, does anybody even know for sure when the Prescott is coming out?

Thanx for your info, I don't mean to sound like I'm debating you, I'm just talking through the decision.

I'm wondering the same thing. I'm about to push by on either an abit IS7 or the P4P800. Both are within 4 dollars, but which one is the better deal? And when is the Prescott due out? if we're talking months, I may could wait atleast for the price drops in the present P4 setups.

Also, what's the deal with lower performance at 1g fsb as aposed to the 800? The scores are higher at 800 than at 1g, atleast off both HardOCP and firingsquad reviews. Any Ideas?

I bought the P4C800 deluxe-E that Newegg had as refurbished for $120, I've had good luck w/ their refurbs in the past and hoping for the same this time.

I think you'll be happier with the Canterwood over the Springdale. Dang, that's almost $30 less than I paid for my P4P800D :p.
