quick networking question....

this should go under networking, but it's kinda dead in there....so here's my quick question:

I'm using my P100 loaded with Smoothwall so it'll be my Linux router. I'm using it to share DSL with 2 other computers through a switch. I have 2 NICS on the P100, one for the DSL modem and the other to connect to the switch. When connecting the P100 to the switch, do I:
a)connect the p100 NIC to the Switch uplink port or
b)connect the p100 NIC to a regular port on the switch.

and do I use a crossover cable for the correct connection above?

thanks 🙂

Connect it to the regular port. The uplink port is for switch-to-switch (or hub) connections, instead of using a crossover cable.

Good luck

Scott
