Ok, I just went from using my IBM 75GXP on an Abit KT7 (VIA KT133) to an Abit NV7M (fully integrated nForce board). When I try to load Win2k I get a stop error BSOD. Do I need to reformat?

you need to boot from the cd, chose the install option, it'll find your previous installation and offer you the option to repair it, chose to repair.. see if that fixes things before reformating.
