Quick Matrix question...

I've seen the first film plenty of times, but after catching the end of it on TBS tonight, a question popped into my head that I actually have never thought about before. Who is Neo talking to on the phone at the end before flying off?

I don't mean to start another big Matrix thread, so if people start discussing, you repost nazis can kiss it ;P.

What I dont understand in the second one is when they find the guy who is left, and they talk about how everything is lost and the EMP went off to early. Was this zion or like something else?

I don't think you can tell who he is talking to. It's just left open-ended. You could interpret it in a number of different ways (a new recruit he's after, the "machines," the viewer, etc.).

Answer me this: why the hell is Neo so weak in the second movie? it was obvious from the first that he had completely broken the boundaries of the matrix. he could now move as fast as he wanted to, hit as hard as he wanted to, and read/mess around with the code to his will's content. skip forward to the second movie, and all of a sudden being the one is nothing more than a speed/strength upgrade, along with a few quirks like being able to fly and pull sh*t towards you. based on what was told in the original Matrix, it shouldnt matter how strong the agents are, or how many of them there are. he is not limited by the rules of the system, so he shouldnt have a problem with anything. Yet an agent blocks his punch, he has trouble with the Smiths, and takes his sweet ass time defeating the merovingian's guards. Hell, he even gets cut by a weapon. NONE of that makes sense in context to the first movie. Anyone care to explain?

Woodchuck, you should have known from the beginning that there's no such thing as a "quick" matrix question.

Same problem I had. They simply explained it away by saying the new agents were upgrades. That shouldn't have mattered since Neo could see the code and twist it to his liking. Agent Smith was partially justified, since he could also screw with the code ever since Neo passed through him or whatever.

The real reason his powers took a step backward is that there would have been no drama if Neo didn't even have to fight anymore. Invulnerable people make bad heroes.

Yeah, the matrix kinda wrapped everything up just in case there wasn't going to be any sequals. But i'm still hoping against hope that it will somehow be explained in revolutions

uhm... Superman?
Superman is NOT invulnerable, obviously. He fights villains his strength and stronger, and has numerous weaknesses. Also, fun fact for the day: Superman was too powerful during one point in his comic life and sales were crapping, so they came up with some plot to make him weaker. Compare this to someone who basically has the game genie to life, and i think you get different results. anyways ANSWER MY F*** question
