How do you keep a DCC connection from going idle? I request the file and get qued, but I get disconnected after 30 seconds. Yes, I'm new to IRC. And no, it's nothing illegal like warez, it's an episode of the animated gargoyles series.

thats copyright protected too i think. but by dcc connection, do u mean the chat window, or the transfer itself? if its the connection window, thats set by the person running the fserve. there's nothing u can do about that. but anyway, u do not need to be constantly connected with him via that chat window to have the dcc transfer start. as long as u r in the same channel usually... u should be fine.

My understanding of it is as long as you aren't selling while distributing, you're ok. Like that website that had family guy episodes downloadable. I could, however, be wrong. Anyway, I reguest the file in the DCC chat window, get qued and then after 30 secs get disconnected. Do I close the chat window after I get qued or do I have to type something?

Close the chat window after you are queued, it doesn't need to stay open (in fact it is a bit rude) ;). Simply remain in the channel.

what he said. just stay in the channel. its senseless to stay in the dcc chat session. u'll just be hogging his browse slots so no one else will be able to see his stuff.
