Quick "how'd he do that" photoshop question...

Quick question, maybe someone could just give me the steps to do something this simple.
How did the guy take this and make it look like this? I played around with replace colors, but that's not it(or is it?).
Oh ya, did I mention I'm a photoshop idiot?

Your links are broken. Can you link it to the file image only and not the thread?

Edit: Err they're not necessarily broken, just that I don't have a username/password to that site

well, he selcted the grey parts, then changed the colours there (not with the fill bucket, but with Hue/Saturation, Levels, Brightness/Contrast etc)

Yep, he just made a clipping path or selection and then altered the hue/saturation of the area...not that big of a deal.

Another method would be to select the area you want the colors to change using the Polygonal lasso tool. Once that area is created, add a new layer and fill it in with the color of your choice.

From there play around with the opacity and layer styles (screen or overlay usually gives the best results)

Ok, I think I have a handle on what needs to be done(my new attempt), now I just have one last question and we can shut this thread down. 🙂
How can I make minute adjustments to what the wand has selected? I used the add/subtract area(shift/alt), but there's still those couple pixels that make it jagged. Do I change the tolerance, or can I actually move the boundries one pixel at a time?

Newbs all of you! I'll open photoshop right now and do it while talking to a girl I like and making it look like I'm giving her all of my attention AND browse ATOT.

EDIT: I just selected the areas, and messed with selective colors. Took a while because its hard to photoshop AND tell your life story at the same time.
Motercycle SOrry for the bad quality, its geocities so I had to save bandwidth.

You can zoom in and get it as close as possible, then perform all of your work on a new layer, and soften the edge using your tool of choice.

1. zoom in/out
2. use the other selction tools (polygon, lasso, etc)
3. adjust the tolerance of the wand.

Fantastic help fellas! Those are the little kinds of tricks I really like to learn. They're not much to most, but they can come in handy quite often, I'm sure. 🙂
Thanks!
