Quick Home Networking Question

I have two PCs running WinME. One uses DSL through USB to connect to the internet and has a 10/100 NIC in it not being used. The other, I want to connect to the first and utilize its DSL connection to the internet.

Do I need a patch or crossover cable?

And what protocol would I use to communicate between the two? NetBEUI or TCP/IP?
