I've just changed over my NT4 BDC server to W2K member server and am setting up DHCP, kept all the scope entries the same but I have some probs with win98 boxes
Connecting by DHCP. I 've got a couple that will, a win98 box and a win 95 box and all my W2K workstations seems to be fine but most don't even give them option of going into the domain login screen and I've run winipcfg which comes back as pretty much useless. Since most of my boxes are w98 this is a prob and I'm in on my day off to try and fix it. If I have to I'll go back to static IP but lets see what we can do first ;)
I loaded the latest drivers for the Intel NIC but I have 3Com 905's that won't connect either.
I've checked to see if it was the difference between connecting into the 24 port hub or the 24 port switch, doesn't seem to make a difference.
So what am I missing ??

Don't understand your question quite well.

It happened to me before when I setup win2k server, all win9x couldn't get IP address dynamically, I had to use static IP for them while win2k boxes had no problem.

Thats pretty much it !
I have one magic W98 box that connects everytime , one out of 15 which it is identical to about 10 of those! ghosted identical boxes. I also have one win95 box that will connect no probs but that is the only one on the LAN.
All the W2k boxes, bout 5 connect no problem.
So is that pretty much it, W98 won't DHCP on a W2k member server?
I'd give up but I did have one that did, sigh, its too late I reduced the scope to 10 IP addys and stuck all the 98 boxes on static. . .
Guess I'll just adjust the scope as more W2K and XP's come on line. . .
P1ss me off though!
