Yes, looks do go only so far. The hottest girl in my high school (she was definitely model material, perfected by nature) was a complete ditz. No brain at all. Never had a BF and I bet guys wouldn't even sleep with her cause she wouldn't know what to do. But that's at the far end of the continuum. On the other hand, I don't care if this girl has the best personality in the world, if she's a dud it's not gonna happen. That's nature, deal with it.

And as to your response, whoever said that originally didn't mean everyone should go date the ugliest girl they can find. It just meant that you can't have the mentality that you will ONLY date a girl with an absolutely perfect body, because that won't happen.

I don't know what high schools you guys went to, they must have really bad volleyball programs or something, in my area I grew up in, some of the hottest(of the athletic) girls around were in volleyball, and they weren't the 'basketball rejects' or anything. Several girls(and guys) from my school quit basketball to persue volleyball more intently.

That's my point -- it used to be just women that obsessed and felt insecure over their bodies. Now that cancer is spreading and many young men are getting eating disorders, body dysmorphic complexes, etc. and doing dangerous things to be more attractive. Some guys are not as influenced by it yet, but younger generations of women are learning to expect the Cosmo Male or whatever, just as generations of women feel they have to have x, y or z to be beautiful.

So the long-term ramification of this is that both genders are screwed and increasingly unhappy with what they must "settle for" (not everyone is so easily brainwashed fortunately). Another point is that many guys seem to think they are better looking and, of course, much smarter than average (even if they are not even close to average by objective standards) -- and it's really funny to see them worrying about whether a woman is hot enough or not for them. I'm sure we'll soon have VR environments that will let us fully escape from the horror of a date with a less than perfect partner. But I think that it's the little imperfections that make a man truly attractive 🙂

Wierd... I've knew a girl who had a fast metabolism. She was thinner than luvly but not nearly as tall. Until I got to know her better, I didnt know I thought she was just thin. But anyways because of her LACK of weight she
would a lower self esteem. She wasn't bulemic or anorexic just a fast metabolism. Being a friend of hers, I helped convince her to eat more and eat more healthly. Anyone who has a fast metabolism needs to eat a lot to keep their current weight and even more to gain some. So as soon as she started to gain weight and keep it her self esteem picked up.

Just lay off the junk foods and eat healthy. That way if your metabolism slows down you just have to scale back the amount of meals you need to eat and not really change what you eat if you eat healthly.

That said, I have no idea about that girl's body type. However, to all the people saying, "Looks don't matter...blah blah blah" well, ideally you would be right, but it doesn't always work out that way - especially when you first meet someone (c'mon, don't lie to yourself...at the very least remember when you were a teen). I don't think that looks matter that much - if you can't consistently have a good conversations with the other person then arelationship is pretty useless. However, good looks certainly don't hurt an already good relationship. 🙂

Zippy, I agree with you. So now, hon', don't try dishing out what you can't take 'cuz once you get me started, you'll regret it. I stayed calm throughout because I thought it was really silly to quarrel with fellow women. However, if you want to start one, I have no problem pulling one against a man.

The discussion in this thread centred on physical appearance. I decided to be frank about it and not sugarcoat it. If it offends anyone, too bad.
