Quick HD monitor question

Ok, so I've got the Gateway 21" WS monitor, and I've loved it so much. Shortly after, I replaced my system (went to AMD, my prescott was far too hot for my tastes), and upgraded my GPU to a 7800gt (eVGA). Now, since I've had the monitor, I've had HD turned on... I've dropped out of playing most computer games, and I'm about to get NWN2. The question that I have is this:
Does having HD activated put more load on my video card? (Would turning off HD output to my monitor increase performance?)
I'm currently using DVI, if that makes a damn bit of difference. 😀

You have a monitor, so "HD" doesnt really apply, and nothing to turn off. Just change the resolution in your game if you want more FPS. I have a 7900GS and I can play at 1680x1050 with 4XAA with no lag in all games, so I would think you would be fine at your monitors native resolution.

There's an option in my video configuration for HD...I'm just wondering if that takes a performance hit...

Well, I'm pretty sure that the HD option in your video configuration only applies to the "TV Out" part of your video card. It doesn't apply when you are using your monitor through DVI. So there is no performance hit, or anything else to worry about.
