I realize there is a software forum. I posted there too - but I need this solved as fast as possible and lets face it - ATOT has a lot more traffic than Software. Its not tough - basically I have a spreadsheet with a value in each column. At the end I have a total of each row. Now I want to rank the rows and change the whole spreadsheet so that the highest score is on top and the entire spreadsheet is in order of the total.

When I tried to use the sort function it only sorted that column... how do I sort the entire sheet based on the values of 1 column? Thanks.

Highlight the entrire area you want to sort, and sort by the appropriate column.

I think what you want to do is highlight the entire sheet (Click on the blank square in the top left hand corner above "1" and to the left of "A", and this will highlight the entire sheet.) Click "Data"-->"Sort", and choose the column you want to sort by and if it's ascending/descending.

Dynamically (changing based on cell values, with no user intervention) or non-dynamically?

Non-dynamically is a rather simple task. Select all the data - that is, the range of rows and colums including the column to be sorted by. On the application bar, select "Data", then "Sort". Choose the column desired to sort by, and the desired direction (ascending or descending).

I was thinking about the easiest way to tell him to click on the thingie (technical term) that selects the whole spreadsheet and realized that's now how I would have done it in the first place. :p
