I want to make a single line chart (timeline) spanning from 12/10/04-2/18/05 and then breaking up the line at different dates to represent different periods.

so far all I got was a single chart with a 0-100% scale. I want dates. How do I go about doing this?

thanks in advance

You going to need to use some visuals to describe what you want. Perhaps a scanned hand drawing?

Double-click the time axis and select the 'Number' tab. Choose 'Date' from the list, then select the format you want displayed on the axis. If you want, I can tell you how to display the relevant info for each date on the chart too.

I tried that, but it just turned into 00-jan-00 and other random dates.
