ok so say you committed to buy something?

user doesn't offer paypal.

you say you don't want to purchase it anymore and you're open to receiving negative feedback.

seller encourages you pay outside ebay using their own personal paypal account that is not connected to the seller's ebay account

what do you do?

tell seller ebay regulations require him to accept paypal only and GTFO

I have done this before, they offer me a lower price and I do it outside ebay...works fine....granted I have only done this twice...and made 100% sure it was who they said it was.

have they PM you the paypal address via ebay, that's what I did.

Which pisses me off because I sold an Xbox Live card almost 2 weeks ago and buyer isn't going to pay. Now I have to wait until I can give him an unpaid buyer strike and relist it and probably receive a negative from the buyer.

+1

This, I sold a Wii last year on ebay. Buyer did a buy it now, I send an invoice, left me a negative the next day without payment or email.

what do you do?

learn to read better first. paypal is not really connected to ebay accounts. Pay via paypal and list the item number.

paypal IS connected to ebay accounts. that is how you are able to use ebay's pay now/check out option. They might need to be connected to give you the buyer protection, but i'm not sure on that

If you pay an account other than the seller's account I don't believe you'll have any recourse.

the pay now/check out option wasn't part of what happened here. You can paypal another account/have them send you a bill for the item in question.

Paypal would be offering the protection, not ebay.
