Quick, dumb, USB 2.0 compatibility question

This is a quick, easy, question. Will a USB 2.0 device such as a flash memory stick work OK on an older system that has USB 1.1 (and of course OS support such as Win2K?)

*maybe* with devices designed only to run at high-speed (I was asking about cd-writers a few hours ago) but even then it will probably just be slow.
