I'll be flying out to Cali next month (first time out of Europe) and I have one quick question about hiring a motorbike.

Firstly; here in the UK there are separate tests for car, bike, LGV, etc.

I currently hold a full UK Motorbike license and a provisional Car license, I've been driving Motorbikes for over 7 years and I'm over 25 years old.

Are there rental companys which will allow me to drive a cruiser/street bike on my current license setup?

i'd check with the California DMV and see what they say about driving with your license.

How about getting an international license?

in less than a month?

It's easy. Just some paperwork to fill out. link

Usually between Europe and US having an international license is not required but it helps cut down on miscommunication and hassle.

having been to the UK from the US, rented a car and driven around Scotland for a week, all i can say is: you don't want to do this for the first time on a bike.

you will die.

as someone said, good luck with that...

When I lived in the UK you could get an internation license in one day. I dont know if that is still possible. But I know they can be had in a week or less.

It shouldn't be a problem, California is so backwards they thought of giving illegal aliens licenses.

I think I'll be fine as I've driven around Europe before (left and right hand driving)

What part of Scotland did you visit?

Oh pleeeaasee most rental places don't give a rats a$$.
Most friends that visited me from Europe were able to rent a car with their european licenses without any problems.
