I'm about to walk out the door to go purchase it so I need some quick yet simple advice.

What speed DDR2 do I want? Is the 5300/5400 a no-brainer or is there something else to really consider? Does it really matter much?

Any reason to get 2gb sticks versus 1gb sticks?

I'm assuming AM2 is dual-channel - can you verify that too?

Thanks in advance!

Are you OCing? If not, 3200 is fine.

Some MB's have quirky results with 2 Gb sticks. Have you done your research?

Yes, AM2 can run in dual channel.

3200?

I've not done my research but I'm buying at B&M (Fry's) so returns are easy. Overall I'd like to keep the RAM longterm as a PC usually only lasts 6-10 months in my house before it and 3 other PCs become 4 PCs with a few more new parts. :p

Well, I'm heading out, looks like I found some 6400 that I might want to consider.

Thanks for the warning about 2gb sticks though! :)

If you are running a dual-core AM2 you'll want to get either PC5400 (667mhz) or PC6400 (800mhz) depending on the price ... if its close go for 800mhz but if theres a big difference just save your money & get 667mhz because the performance difference is very small.
