what is the starting gold for a 3rd level character in 3.5 edition, I'm helping a friend make a character and didn't have the DM guide, only the players handbook

I'm pretty sure it's somewhere in the Player's Handbook.

Not that I know what a player's handbook is or antyhing...

Just take whatever the base Level 1 is, and add what you feel is appropriate, assuming you already have other members in the party... otherwise, just start him whatever the base is.
