im runnin crysis at 1920x1200 with everything on HIGH, no aa

and sometimes it just dips too much FPS wise

what 1 or 2 or 3 settings would be best to put to medium to affect graphical quality the least while not letting FPS dip as much?

Shaders / Post processing have the largest impact. Turning those to medium will have a rather large impact on performance.

I hate how Crysis plays, by the time you get it to run smoothly it doesn't look all that great. Why does COD 4 peg at 60 maxed on a lowly 4850 while crysis is lucky to manage a third of that framerate while only looking marginally better?

Useless game.

Man I thought the GTX 280 I'm upgrading to would let me play everything very high. Sounds like I'll be dipping to the 15fps range in complex scenes. Reading the eVGA forums it sounds like tri-SLI overclocked GTX 280 on a 4GHZ quad core with 8GB ram MIGHT get you max settings. LOL.

Crysis has a whole lot more going on. Crysis has a HUGE world and that's a lot of physics that needs to be processed. Shaders is also a huge thing in Crysis (beams of light passing through the trees, producing shadows). Effects such as motion blur has an effect too. Crysis all in all has a lot more "stuff", whether it's needed or not.

Yeah, Crysis takes a big ole whoppin' dump on pretty much every system. A lot of the big performance killers are very small details that add depth, but not worth the performance drop, AKA motion blur!

Disabling a few key things using tweakguides guide allowed me to play at very high settings with a 8800GTS 640 (1156 x 864). I barely see a difference and play at 25fps average. But yeah, it's "cheap very high" I guess...
