Quick Credit Card question

I paid my CC online through my bank account. I paid it in full which was about 300.00. But come to find out some of the checks I wrote previously never cleared the bank yet. So I thought I had well over 300.00 to pay for it, but indeed I only had 50.00 in the account to pay the CC. Well come to find out, the CC got paid, even though I didn't have any money in my checking account except the 50.00. Then I use my CC, about 150.00. I next get a statement saying that I owe 450.00 now because my payment bounced back. Then I get a letter in the mail saying that theres a hold on my account because of "suspecious activity." I didn't mean to do that, I was just careless about my checking. Everythings paid back now, and I just made my minimum payment like two days ago. I tried using my CC but it says it was denied. If I call them and ask them what is going on, will they yell at me? Will they harrass me? Please let me know what you think they will tell me. I don't want to call if they are going to be harrassing me about accidentally paying with 50.00 in my checking acct.

Ok thanks. This is a measly student credit card though, low balance. Will they still want to keep me as a customer? I bring them good service, I pay my CC back then use it again. I'm kinda scared to call lol.

They probably wont say anything. Just burn your credit card. You'll be happy in the end.

Look at me not following my own recommendations.

Damned credit cards...

totally call them.
sound like and feel like you're right, they usually start sucking up to the customer, no probs.
Plus its a mess up on their part- i had the SAME problem happen a little while ago (except with a platinum card) in that i didn't have the funds in my account but they tried withdrawing and it got bounced much later. they never deactivated my card but charged me a hefty bounce fee. i went to the bank, asked them to write a letter telling them it was a mistake (i love student run banks) and i got my bounce fee back 😀

Ok update, I called and they closed my account. I still have a balance so I just have to pay that off and then that CC is dead. Crazy! That was my only CC, and I don't have enough money to put into a savings account to get a secured CC! Damnit!

I think your CC is over reacting, you simply bounced a check they should mark your account with one bad mark, slap you with an NSF fee and tell you not to do it again it's as simple as that. If I were the CC and you had a good history of paying on time I'd rather keep you, spank you, make you pay fees rather than close your account. Stupid if you ask me.

more importantly, that incident has left a scar on your credit report: bounced check, and late payment.

you have to keep better tabs on your spending now. you have to be careful since your credit rating has suffered. make sure you pay your cc bills on time and IN FULL if possible.

Once your credit report is scarred, does it ever go back up? Or will I always have bad credit from this day fourth?

Russ: Forgot to mention I got this letter a few months back. I've just been paying the CC bill 100 here 100 there. I never really had to use it till a few days ago.
