quick Clone CD compatibility question for you experts

I just got and installed my Plextor 12/10/32 (IDE) --TLA #0202B --this weekend and also CloneCD.

I ran Clone CD on a data CD, with the "read subchannel" boxes checked-- both audio and data. All the other settings were at default settings. I don't know if the origin CD had any subchannel stuff or not.

Then I 'pasted' onto the blank CD. I think it copied all ok- I didn't get any errors when I was doing it, but I have to double check on another pc later.

So I'm compatible right? Is there anything else I need to check out on this plextor while I can still return it if necessary?

Thanks

You're compatible in the sense that CloneCD works with your recorder. But that doesn't necessarily mean the burner will do everything you want it to do. Some burners still have an advantage over others.

but I thought plextor with burnproof was the only burner to get?
Lore, which one is more flexible or what were you thinking of when you wrote that?
Thx

It depends what you want to do. The Plextor 12/10/32 is a great drive, no doubt. But the developer of CloneCD just needs to make sure he can fully utilize the reading ability of that burner before I can say it's "perfect" for CloneCD.

For example, I know that CloneCD does a better job with the Plextor 8x20 than with the 12/10/32 because of the different method it reads the CDs.

Ive had no problems copying cds with clonecd and my Plextor 12/10/32. You just need to make sure you get one with the right hardware revision number(if you dont know, a certain hardware revision wont read/write subchannel data-vital for beating the latest version of Securom). I can burn any protected cd perfectly so the copy can run without a crack- Now there is a new copy protection--Safedisk 2(C&C Red Alert 2)-- that so far has yet to be foiled easily. However, Im sure its only a matter of time before the makers of clonecd will crack it.

I read about the hardware revision in another post here, but was still unsure. Do you know which was the better revision to get? Was it the latest one or an older one?

Here is the link to the clonecd compat. list:

When you look at the 12/10/32a entry there is a note in the sidebar what hardware revision # doesnt support subchannel reading/writing. Dont know if it applies to the specific revision number mentioned or to everyone made after that number. I bought mine in August and my revision number is TLA # 0000
