Which is better to use to clean car so that it won't scratch the paint.....wool mit or 100% cotton towel??

Are you talking about washing or dusting??

Dusting, get one of those feather thingies from an auto shop, they are great and really work.
Washing, I have always used that wool mit it seems better.

If you wash it yourself don't use dish soap it will hurt the finish, pick up some soap meant for car washing.

My 2 cents.

whooaa.....I have been using dish soap on my car for a while, I usually wash it every other week......it is still all nice and shiny and black. What exactly does this do to the finish again?

I use dishwashing liquid if the bugs are thick on the hood or if i have tree sap or somethign from the trees in the lot. But a nice new sponge and some Turtle Waz "ZipWash" works greta for almost anything. And a real Shami to dry it.

For washing use a wash mitt that you buy from Walmart or somewhere... white with a thumb part... red stripes on the wrist... and use that with a bucket of water and CAR WASH NOT DAWN or any other liquid detergent! Unless ofcourse you're stripping your wax off on purpose so you can reapply to bare paint. Dawn also removes needed oils from your paint if you use it too much. Once you finish washing with the mitt dry your car with a california waterblade &/or 100% white cotton made in the USA towels.
For waxing you can't go wrong with Zaino.

Wool mitt or chamois cloth. Wash in the shade, and use a car wash detergent, not household. fwiw.

Chamois, not shami. They work very well, but you have to take care of them. Chamois leather should always air-dry and it needs to be oiled every now and again. Synthetic chamois is also a good option, it's almost as good and it's significantly less expensive.

Go to the car wash and then dry your car by driving really fast.

The big problem with dish soap is that it takes off stuff that is supposed to be there (clear coat, wax, protectants...) car soap is a bit more gentle in this respect.

Like it's been said before, it will strip the wax off your car and strip essential oils and stuff from your car. But if your finish is ok... it might be because you wax it every time you wash? Otherwise, you're just very to have such good paint/clear coat.
I use the Absorber (a synth chamois) & a water blade to dry the car, it rocks. Whether you use a soft wool mit or 100% cotton towel, just make sure it's clean from dirt. I currently use Zymol wax, Zaino rocks but it's harder to get... Zymol's just as good in many situations... it's not cheaper either so take your pick.

i've only had my car for about 6 months, so I have not been washing it like this for too long. Of course, I have no clue how the previous owner washed it, if they washed it at all.

I have not waxed it once, but next time I get a chance I am going to go pick up some car wash soap, and some wax. I am also going to look around the house for some cotton towels, I normally just use a beach towl (clean of course) but I don't know what it is made out of.

I can't wait to wax my car, its already sooo shiny.
