Quick but stupid Hard Drive question

When installing a 2nd hard drive...would i have to go into fdisk first and make a new logical drive then just format it in windows? Or will it automatically be recognized?
 
Well it's a physical drive not a logical drive, but yes you need to fdisk it. It probably came with some software to make it easier, my IBM did.
