Quick AOHell question?

I am rebuilding a friends machine and honestly have never messed with AOHell. He's all concerned about his buddy list. Where is this file so that I can copy it to floppy. I know that Aim has an export utility, but it is having trouble launching. I would just like to go in and manually copy it out. It is using version 7.0. Is the list even something stored locally or is part of a profile type thing that keeps your info for you on their server? Much appreciated for any advice possible!!!!

buddy list is stored on the server end...once he signs in, it autoloads whatever he had on the last connetion. You do have to back up favorite places and address books however. and personal filing cabinet as well if he uses it (to store old emails)

Thanks. Favorites are no big deal, but I would like to get the address book. Any idea what file that is? Thanks again!

if memory serves, just select to write a new email. The address book icon should be on the right side of that screen. once you open it, there should be a save/replace or backup icon. could be mistaken since i don't/can't have aol on this machine.

id also suggest saving the cahce directory within AOL just in case. it has several files for each screen name which typically hold settings/preferences, addresses, etc...just in case

In the AOL folder, back up the folder called "Organize" Then, after you load the new AOL on his machine AND sign on to activate the account on that computer, sign back off and replace the "Organize" Folder that is already there with the old one.

He'll have his filing cabinet and favorites back.

Email and Buddylist have been stored server side since the 6.0 version. Favorites will be added server side with 8.0's release. The organize folder will contain the favorite places and saved emails.
