So which one is the better buy? Better bang for buck? I know the 146 is considerably cheaper($165) vs. somewhere around $230 for the 3700+, especially from tank guys, however...I don't know which one overclocks better(people have generically told me 2.7 ghz give or take for both? can someone clarify with specifics or confirm?) or any other factors involved, can anyone end this debate quick and clean?

Opty 146 hands down, much better value. I've had both, and the Opty felt a bit more flexible...

OC potential:

SD 3700....300 to 900 MHz
Opty 146...500 to 1400 Mhz

m :)

thanks, yeah hands down, I'm going to get the Opty 146, thanks Mucker for the advice.

I'm about to start a new thread... but is there a good mobo hands down for this cpu?(one that supports pci-e, and is of course a beast at overclocking stable)

Look no further than the DFI Ultra-D. Argueably the best skt939 ocer out right now.
