Quick 8RDA+ question

I got everything working and flashed my BIOS with the Jan. version. I love the startup screen now with the CPU temps and stuff. Only problem is it all loads too quickly to read it. Is there anyway I can pause my system startup at the first screen so I can take a little gander at all the cool stuff shown there?

Also, my cases LED lights for the power button and stuff don't light up. I'm pretty sure I have everything plugged in correctly. Is there something I'm not doing right?

Thanks

You should be able to pause the POST process using the Pause/Break button or disable Quick POST in the BIOS (see page 4-4 of the manual for that one).

LED's only light up in one direction, so try flipping over the plugs on the same pins and see if that brings them to life. :)

Thanks! Both of those suggestions worked.

One more question: I've got an Athlon XP 2100+. However, under my device manager it is listed as an Unknown CPU type. Do I need to download an updated driver or something? Or is this a normal thing to have?

"Unknown CPU type?" This must be a WinXP oddness. I don't have an answer to that but someone will :D

Check the Windows Update site. I think there was a driver update for AMD CPU's......

I went to the windows update site first thing to try to solve the problem, but it didn't do anything.

It doesn't really matter that much. It's not affecting my system's performance at all.

I do have another question about overclocking my CPU though. As I said I have an Athlon XP 2100+ and an Epox 8RDA+. I've been reading a lot of other threads about people getting 2.1-2.3 Gig speeds. So far I've only been able to get a maximum of 2 gigs, and that wasn't very stable. I don't think it's my CPU temp, it hasn't gotten any higher than 41 C. I think it might be my ram that is holding me back. I've got 1 stick of Kingston pc2100 286mb. Anybody have any suggestions?

Is your 2100+ a pally, T-bred A, or T-bred B? If you're not sure, can you post the stepping code from your CPU? Those that are hitting around 2.3GHz have the T-bred B core, if it's a T-bred A core, then you will struggle to reach 2.0GHz.

I checked the code on the CPU before I installed it and I'm 99% positive it's a Tbred B. Is there anyway for me to doublecheck without taking my system apart again?

Okay, I think I found the problem. My CPU voltage regulator wasn't set high enough. It was at about 1.6V. Now I've raised it to 1.9V. I'm currently running at 16x133 with no problems. My CPU temp is at 50C, which is a little high to me, but I'm using an SVC GC69 HS/fan. I just ordered a Vantec Aeroflow (heard lots of good reviews). Also ordered a 120mm YS Tech case fan. Hopefully these will bring my temps down.

Also, where can I this prime95 program everyone is talking about. Does it monitor CPU temps as well? I hate having to restart my computer and check the BIOS everytime I want to check the CPU temps.

1.9V is pretty darn high... I wouldn't expect my CPU to last too long at that level :Q A 10% boost in CPU voltage is as far as I'm willing to push it, but it's your system... :D

For monitoring temps, fan speeds, etc. download, free, motherboard monitor--from download.com or other download sites.

If that is a T-bred B you have, then 1.9 is pushing it on the vcore. I'd back off of that untill you can get some better cooling on it.
