After "dibs" is declared, what stipulations are automatically attached and assumed?

What time limit, if one exists, does a "dibs" in effect?

Can "dibs" be declared without specifying a target?

Does "dibs" imply a one-to-one?

At most, how many "dibs" can one concurrently have?

If one has a "dibs" and refuses to act on it, is it considered voided?

Last but not least, after a dibs is voided or expires, and there are no other "dibs", what amount of time has to pass before "dibs" can be called again?

I think those questions are all situational and could depend on the granter of the dibs if one exists.

Otherwise it depends on the people who don't have dibs.

Erasies can be called when one dibs a desirable object. The object is back in play. The first to say "Dibs on _________, no erasies" gets the object for good until Dibs out is called by that person. If "No Erasies" is not called after dibsing an object, any other player may say "erasies" to cancel out the dibs and dibs the object themselves.

the time limit is relative to the person and object. on an internet forums, such as this one, in the FS section, i would expect dibs to last no longer than 15minutes before the party declaring the aforementioned action must present themselves.

dibs absolutely CANNOT be declared on an unspecified object. that's just crazy talk.

one-to-one ... as in i, the seller and you, the buyer are the only parties privy to the transaction....then yes. dibs would imply one-to-one

concurrent dibs are infinite as long as you pay/exchange an equal amount of services

yes, it's voided if one doesn't act on it. that defeats the whole purpose of dibs.

your last question is too vague, for me.

Lets say a "dibs" expires, can one immediately call "dibs" again if there are no other "dibs" in queue or is there a specified time period that has to pass in order to allow for another "dibs" to be declared before calling the "dibs" again?

if by "one" you mean "a different party," than yes, immediate dibs can be called.

example

seller
buyer a
buyer b

buyer a "DIBS!"
*communication/deal falls thru*
buyer b "DIBS!!!!!"
*sale finalizes*

= perfectly fine.

EDIT: on another note, buyer a can no longer associate with seller as far as dibs goes again, until seller forgets about the unfortunate "dibs" escapade. he is shamed a little.

Oh, so "No erasies" is not implied and also has to be declared? Interesting...

You can call out any word you want, but the only one that matters is "shotgun."

^That is true. "Dibs" is too vauge in that situation. "Shotgun" is more specific, therefore would override.

It should also be noted that "shotgun" can only be uttered after all the participants in question are outside and walking to the car. Calling "shotgun" from inside the house is grounds for an ass-beating.

It can only be called if the driver is outside by a person who is outside. This prevents parties interested in obtaining shotgun from stalling to find an opportune moment to step outside.

Nice link

Anyone notice how shotgun is always called first, then "not-b!tch" is the next to be called (if needed of course).

Important dibs rule... if you ever call dibs on a girl, that means that according to LAW the other people must intentionally try to hook up with her just so you can't. Even if you don't use the word dibs this is true. You could say, "I'm in love with this girl x I've known for years" and the law is still clear - your friends must steal her.
