Questions regarding Plextor 16

I want to ask you guys some questions about the plextor 16/10/40A
1) How can the 2MB buffer be enough when it writes at 16X which is about 2400 KB/s?
2) Can it write with clone cd. I heard the plextor has removed the raw writting in the firmware. If it's true is there anyway it can be solved. Is de!grading the firmware the only way?Is it safe?

Question 1. On my Celeron 2 877 system with 320 megs of ram, my 16x10x40 plextor keeps the buffer over 90% full almost all the time. It just works. No underruns.
