I'm planning on converting a downstairs room into a music/computer room. The confusing part is coming up with an appropriate desk for the computer. Looking on CL gives nothing but formal office desks or those cheap generic chipboard veneer things that were popular 20 years ago.

Requirements:
1. I'd like the two monitors on the right end, with space for two desktop speakers alongside.
2. Space to spread out papers on the desk and still use the keyboard.
3. Space on or behind desk to provide task lighting on desktop.
4. Room for a chair to scoot along about 5 feet of desk space.
5. Keyboard on slider tray a plus, but not required.
6. I do not object to modern styling: glass and steel
7. Some sort of storage under, like drawers or a cabinet
8. On top there will also be a printer and laptop with docking station. The printer can go under on a shelf that slides out.
9. Desk top can be up to 9 feet long if necessary. Rather not have L-shaped, but an L with one very small end and one large end might work.

Does such a thing exist? I'm not having any luck finding pics of what I'm envisioning.

Sketch out what you're talking about. Also, what kind of price range do you have? Is there an Ikea near you? You could always just hodge podge something together.

I have seen some setup with dual monitors where they used a kind of table with 4 legs. In this case it was about a 5-6 foot wood table. Tables tend to be deeper and might be easier to spread out materials on top of the table. Then you said you wanted storage. What you going to store? A desk usually has a like a file drawer or two. So do you plan on encoding the music on the computer or playing CD/DVD/Blu-Ray. What about things like music videos and an HDTV?

You dont have to have only a Desk, you could also have a bookcase to store Disks. Some places may sell cabinets designed for storage of DVD's.
