I was 4 days late due to the weekend and citibank hit me up with a $39.00 charge. Thats fine but then I asked the girl and she stated it might affect my credit score. I thought if my account was 30 days past due and they would report it to the credit bureau, correct?

It seems citibank outsources their customer support. two calls and i got two different indian ppl. so freaking hard to understand them.

If you paid your cc bill 4 days late it will not show up on your credit score. Quit worrying.

you can't blame the weekend for being four days late because you had the rest of the month to pay.

tsk tsk.

ToeStub is right, 4 days won't kill your rating. They'll still charge ya for it though! :)

i'm not bitching and i accept the $39. the CS needs to be more knowledgable. Also, isnt there a grace period?

It will not affect your credit score.

It may affect your standing with CitiBank, though it's likely to be minimal.

I once had not one but TWO payments in a row late by 2-3 days on one of my CC's. Sheer stupidity on my part, the balances were tiny & I would have paid them off in full. They simply slipped my mind. They've since upped my limit without a request from me, & my interest rate remains unchanged.

Damn I felt like a dumbass though. Two in a row.

I'm not a big fan of citibank since i cant schedule payments ahead of time like my MBNA cards. Also, charges dont appear instantly as it does on MBNA. I've had my citibank card since 98 so i dont want to cancel it.

yes it will, and it could cause other cards/accounts no matter what institution they are with to go into default (meaning bend me over 20+% rates)

read the fine print.

How long have you had the card? First late payment? Call back, tell them it was your fault (holidays and all you know) and politely ask if they will credit the charge this one time. If your a good customer (e.g. this is your first late payment, you've had the card for a bit and use it), 90% of the time they will credit those charges back. If you've had a prior late payment in the previous 12 months, don't bother ;)
