Questions on the Body For Life book/program, High Intensity Interval Training, weight training and healthy eating

I bought the Body for Life book a few weeks ago but I have'nt really tried to do the program yet. As of this morning I will give it a try for a few weeks and see what kind of results I get. However I'm wondering if anyone else here has tried to use the book and if it worked for them.

Yesterday I posted a topic about needing to lose 60 pounds and I got a lot of good advice. Today however I have a few questions about High Intensity Interval Training combined with weight training.

Yesterday I did my first session of HIIT at a park near my home. Basically my wife and I alternated between jogging and brisk walking around the park for about 15-20 minutes. It felt great after I finished, I really got a good workout. In the Body for Life book it suggests that you do HIIT 3 times a week every other day.

But I'm wondering, is it beneficial to do this kind of training everyday even during the days that I weight train?

Lets say that during a typical week I did the HIIT at least 6 days and on maybe 3-4 of those days I did the HIIT more than once. Will that help me to rapidly shed weight? (hopefully 50-60 in 2-3 months)

Here's another question: In addition to the HIIT I plan on hitting the weights hard, what kind of program should a big guy follow to get larger and well defined muscles? (Currently I weigh about 267-270 but I'm very solid. I'm not an extremely flabby person, in fact I think thats why its so hard for me to notice a change in weight whenever I first start working out.)

Finally my last question I'm going to make the ultimate sacrifice and begin to eat right. Unfortunately I'm a very picky eater, there are a lot of foods that I don't like so it makes to difficult for me to change my eating habits. Can someone give me a few varied meal suggestions that will help me to burn the fat? In particular breakfast is the hardest meal of the day for me to get through.

Thanks for any advice or answers you can give me

HIT can be done 6 days a week..but that would be a max I would say. You need at least 1 day of rest.

That's where you're gonna (obviously) lose the most weight...weights will simply tone

As far as weight training, you shouldn't lift more than every other day. You're muscles need time to recover.

I usually have a chest, shoulder, arm, back and leg day for lifting (one per day)...then repeat every week

For breakfast, i never eat more than cereal or waffles...and i can make it to lunch @ noon with no real problems every day.

Eating, as you seem to know, is also key. Remember that some people aren't "3 square meals" type of people...you might be better off simply

eating maybe 5 or 6 tiny meals throughout the day.....

With a 2-3 month time frame, and sticking to what you have planned, i see no reason why you won't notice a tremendous difference...

Not sure about losing the entire 60 lbs...but you will definitely look and feel better.

I really hope I can eliminate all of this freakin weight soon. I figure that if I really push myself and get plenty of the right foods and rest then maybe I'll have a shot. I read a magazine a few months ago that did a study on people who worked out once a day several times throughout the week and then there was another set of people who worked several times a week but they did more than one exercise routine in the course of the day. The latter group lost more weight and gained more muscle in 12 weeks than the other group who worked out for 24 weeks. I'm hoping that maybe that program will work for me.
