Questions on religion.

How many people can actually say that they agree with all aspects of their "religion."

What I mean is that, most of us are raised in one tradition or another. Do you believe fully in this tradition or do you question it?

Is questioning God (if you believe in him) and religion a good thing or a bad thing?

I question god and religion and nothing bad has happened, nor do I think anything will as a result of it. I went to a Christian public school for 2 years, and forcing a kid to memorize the bible is not what I call religion.

Questioning your beliefs is the sign that your mind is working. Only a fool would just accept everything that he is given and not think about whether it is true.

I was not raised with any religion in my family. I believe in Jesus. Questions have answers...

does anyone else notice the strong trend of conformity in religion?

I tend to think more individualistic when it comes to these matters. I hold my own unique belief about God.

Is community an aspect of religion though?

I am a Christian and I feel that people will never agree with every single little doctrine/by-law that their church has. But, I feel you should at least agree on the main points of the church if you are going to be a member. Also, I think it is our responsibility to question what the preacher says. You need to make sure that what they are telling you is, in fact, the truth. You could be sitting in the congregation of someone, blindly following whatever they say without ever checking and none of it be Biblicly based.

Community is an aspect of Christianity. The church is a means for socialization, accountability, lasting relationships, spiritual counsel, and outreach (among probably a bazillion other things).

I am not religious, but believe that you must always question what you believe in.

For religion, if you stop quesitoning god, don't you stop believing in god? For if you stop questioning, and believe you know the answer, then you have lost faith (faith being believing without knowing). If you "know" god, then you have actually confined god to the image that you have created, for nobody could know god if god exists. You would then be worshiping an image that you have created instead of god.

Personally, in my experiences of questioning religion, I've battled almost every aspect of religion except the existence of God.

I've never not believed in God, for numerous reasons, but I suppose that is a legitimately debatable question.

Is there a God?

i don't think you can really believe in a religion without questioning it.... if you can question it, find out more, and you still feel it's valid, then you can fully believe in it....

i think a lot of ppl are afraid to question religion because they feel they will find something "wrong" and then have nothing to hold on to... (what u don't know won't hurt u kinda thing)

others blindly dismiss religion without questioning/examining it because they are insecure and don't want to worry about believing in or relying on anything so they choose to ignore it.... (ignorance is bliss kinda thing)

Actaully, I think that when you stop asking questions about your faith and belief system you stop growing spiritualy.

Not asking questions is far more dangerous...
