Questions on Mosfet cooling

I got a new video card and I ordered the Vantec Iceberq 4 Pro to cool it. It came with 4 small heatsinks that are copper-colored. I was thinking absently about using them for mosfet cooling, but first I have some questions.

As Arctic Silver's Epoxy is a little too much work (and more permanent than I'd like), I was planning on just using the thermal pads that come supplied with the Iceberq. Is it even worth it? Will the pads transfer enough heat to make them worthwhile?

Since there are 6 mosfets and 4 heatsinks (they're much larger than the mosfets), will it work ok to just put the pads on the bottoms of the heatsinks and span them across a couple of mosfets at a time?

Can the heatsink touch those metal rings around those - whatever they are - things to the right of the mosfets on the Epox 8RDA+? Will that short something out?

Thanks for all of your help.

I have some small chopped up heatsinks which I use to cool the MOSFETs on my 8RDA+.. and I use thermal pads also. They've worked pretty well for me.. as I can feel those heatsinks get extremely hot.

Yep, that's how I did it with mine.. and actually I've done this to two 8RDA+ boards. :)

Those three circular things to the right have something to do with the 8RDA+ being 3-phase.. so the voltages going through your motherboard are cleaner. As much as possible, I would avoid any metallic contact with those.

Just use your thermal goop, if you use a nice coating you should get a good airtight seal.

Yeah, but it'll never come off without damaging the motherboard. Not a good idea.

No dont use the thermal epoxy use standard thermal paste - as long as you apply a decent amount and push down and then turn you should push the air out and the get a vacumn seal.

Is that right? If that works I'll give you the elite title of Filet.
None of your have fallen off and hit your vid card?

We are only talking about small heatsinks with minimal weight as long as the compound is not to dry you will have no problem.
