no shhh sound here..... you mean when i leave volume on and nothing played or coming out on speakers it making shhh sound for you?

i use coax for my all-purpose rig and direct 6.1 for gaming rig

how loud do i have to leave the volume to hear the shhh sound

i had to turn the volume to half to hear a very low humming sound, but when the volume is that high, any speaker will make the hum noise. but its nothing like a "shhhh"

mine does it on any volume in direct 6.1... I don't think it does it on digital out (coax, optical) though. just put your ear near the speakers to check.

thank you :)

even when the direct 6.1 is not hooked up to the soundcard I can hear it at about 5 inches from the speaker. Like a faint white noise...

It's common problem with cheap Logitech speakers. My Logitech Z680 hisses as well. Fortunately I can turn it off when I'm not using it.

some people say they have ZERO hiss/white noise.. I thought mine was messed up. I really need to know if its "NORMAL" for the Z-5500 before my 30 day exchange expires.

It's normal. Some sets have them. Or all have them and some just don't hear it.

faint white noise is probably caused by the cd digital/analog, line-in, or microphone or such... just doubleclick your speaker icon in windows, and mute everything except play control, wave, and midi while at 90% volume... i'm sure one of those will stop those hissing sounds

My new advice is go and exchange these just to see if something's up, and if your problems persist with the new set, then you'll know for sure :p

lol :)

love the answer, but they are currently sold out and I will only get credit until they get more in about a month... thats why I'm so persistent. I wish someone who owns the set could just tell me his does the same thing..
