okey, friend of mine wanted me to build her a budget dual core system. I read a lot about the 805D and frys had a steal on them. 149.99 with ati410 chipset board and retail box cpu. Before you guys flame me, check my sig, im a AMD person and there is no way i could get a dual core system for even 1/3rd the price of this pentium D.

Anyhow im having some issues about heat, im on watercooling for my amd, and any temp in excess of 45 for me is panic. I already know pentiums runs hotter then amds so here goes the stats.

Stock Clock = 2.66ghz
Overclocked = 3.2ghz

Load temps = 54C
Stock Voltage is also used
Stock Heatsink is also used.

Is the load temps within acceptable ranges is my question. Should i downclock the freq? Its on stock voltage and its been on prime for 4 hours so far stable at 54C. Should i just pick up a xp-90 for it? My friend prefers not to spend anymore money on the system but if the temps seem a little high, i think i can convince her to get a Xp-90 or a CM hyper64.

Thanks for the quick replys :]

Yes, that is very acceptable considering that the chip is very hot to begin with. I would wait until the temps go any higher before buying a new hsf. Of course, having an aftermarket cooler would definitely not hurt. It'll only be around 40 bucks for the xp-90 and a decent fan. If you're planning to OC the chip even more, then you definitely need a new cooler. But for now, I'd say its fine.

heh thanks for the reply, yeah im gonna try to push a better hsf on her and see her ractions. SVC is having a sale on the hyper64 for 24.99!! Anyhow its been on prime for a little over 4 hours now and i think 3.2ghz is a decient overclock for 2.66ghz cpu.
