1) Does snow always hit the windshield and turn into water?? or are there times when it stays in its original ( snowy ) form even after hitting the windshield?
2) i once saw on the news channel, cars doin 360 degree turns ( skidding ) on the interstate due to a storm .. when does that happen?? when there has been a icestorm or what?
3) Is snow 50% ice and 50% water???
Im sorry if these questions sound stupid..
1) Quick tip. If you have nothing on your windshield and it's not wet, do not heat hte windshield. If it stays cold, the snow won't stick and it actually gives you better visibility. having said that, always rember to kieep your windshield wiper fluid full.
2) Can happen ant anytime. If you have rear wheel drive, you better klnow what you are doing. GO SLOW. The people wiping out are morons and nothing more. 4x4s don't do crap for you. Get front wheel drive. You can't fishtale with front wheel drive, but with rear 4 wheel drive you can.
2cont) You can slide on packed snow, ice, you name it. slushy roads also are bad. i'd saw the worst! Packed snow isn't so bad.
2 cont copnt) When on the highway, going fairly fast. hit hte brakes fairly hard. It's a good way to scheck road conditions. Also, never use cruise control! When driving over patches of snow, slow down. When changing lanes, let off the gas entirely. The little strips that do not make tire contact often can be very dangerous. AWhen going over or under a bridge, let of the gas entirely. Overpasses freeze much easier so it could be icy. Underpasses are where water drips from bridges and ice patches can form.
3) snow is neither.
Experiences. Once fish tailed at 60 mph because i hit a snow patch while trying to pass. Adrenealine was in my veins for about 2 hours. Point is, when in doubt, go slow.
Also, I drive a rear wheel drive truck. I have for 9 years now. When buying a new truck 2 years ago, I bought 2 WD. 4WD is a WASTE OF MONEY! It odes nothing for you but make you overconfident. For the $2000 I saved I simply add 700 pounds of weight to my truck bed. That costs next to nothing! The transfer case in a 4WD vehicle also eats gas.
