Questions about long distance, and 800 numbers...

if you call an 800 number, and they transfer you to a number that would have been long distance for you, do you still get charged long distance?

Where I work, if someone calls our 800 number and we transfer them to an LD number, we pay the charges.

No, the charges are billed to the customer that has the 800 service. The only way that this can be done is if they were to transfer you to a 900/976 service, as they use reverse billing. BUT, before they transfer you to a 900/976 service they MUST tell you about the charges as it's the law.
