Whats the difference between a waverunner and a jetski? When I googled them, they both looked the same.

Waverunner is yamaha brand name, Jetski is Kawasaki brand name, Seadoo is Seadoo brand name, all three are Personal Watercraft.

oooh damn.. I thought that Jetski is what they called the Watercraft.. Cool! thanks

Well to be fair a jetski was the original and the name means the older style jetski that you stood on instead of sit down.
That's what I had for several years and loved every second using it. You can do a lot more tricks on the standups than the sitdown jetskis. Wish I still had one, those things are so much fun.

If you want everyone on and around the lake to hate you, then get a personal watercraft. Just make sure you stay more than 200 yards away from anyone. It's pretty hard to shoot someone moving that fast at 200+ yards.

I do not recommend using a Jetski/seadoo/waverunner for pulling anything. While many have the ability, I've seen several (My parent's neighborhood is based around two lakes) where the impeller broke and seriously f'ed up the jetski. There is a reason why on many sport lakes people use boats instead of jetskis. Jetski's weren't built/designed to pull tubes/skiers and so on.

That said, jet boats and jet skis lack the ability to "pop" a skier right out of the water the way that a propeller-driven boat can and will tend to drag a skier a bit more before they get up. Also, since they lack central tracking chines and have the tow eye located on the transom instead of on a center post inside the boat, they tend to get pulled from side to side if you are pulling a slalom skier.

If you really want to ski and tube, your only really good option is an inboard, prop-driven, ski boat like a Correct Craft Ski Nautique or a Master Craft ProStar. I grew up with Ski Nautiques, so my own bias lies in that direction. And I'll also admit to a bias against using jet boats (or any jet-propelled watercraft) as a tow vehicle.

It's been my experience that a 320hp, 0-30 in 4.8, SX230 pops a skier right out of the water while having a quicker plane time (4.6). At least you admit your bias, and I have to say, I'm biased towards particular jetboats.

Although this is kind of true, Seadoo doesn't make a Jetski and the others do. Jet ski's you stand up on and are smaller, used more for jumping waves. Waverunners you sit down on, seadoo's are waverunner's. The sit down style is used more for cruising and using with multiple people, its more powerful but you get less air because of the weight.

Seadoo is overrated for the price, buy the Honda instead

Not true. Any pwc that kawasaki makes is the JetSki brand. My old Kawasaki 900zxi was a jetski and said jetski on it, yet it was a 2 person sitdown. Same with the 1100stx my buddy had. Clearly said JetSki on the lower part of the hull.

Again, Kawasaki makes Jetski brand watercraft, both sitdown and standup.
Yamaha makes Waverunners which are sit down and Superjets which are standup.
Seadoo makes Seadoo brand
etc.

Good. 2 stroke engines are horrible for rivers & lakes.

Text

Pollution caused by two-stroke technology occurs because fuel is entering the combustion chamber from the carburetor while the exhaust is leaving the chamber. Mixing between the intake and exhaust gasses causes raw fuel to be passed directly out of the engine along with the cooling water. According to some studies, in older carbureted two-stroke engines as much as 30 percent of the fuel passes through the combustion chamber unburned, releasing hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, and toxic constituents of gasoline directly into the environment.

I've been canoing down rivers with a bunch of the jet skiers and boats were running around us, & for a while there would be a fucking oil film over the entire river. That shit is disgusting. Two stroke water engines should be fucking banned.
