questions about 'ghost' program for making images

i just fixed my buddy's comp and am currently making a hard drive image just in case he screws up his computer again. there is about 5 gigs of data on the drive, the image is set on medium compression, and the image is being written to an external usb 1.0 hd.

My qeustions are:

why is this taking so long? it is only at 5% and it's been going for about an hour and a half. I think that this might be is because the computer doesn't support usb 2.0, and the data is crawling to the external hd.

would it be better to make another partition in the the computer's hard drive and save the image to that partition? if so, is there anyway to cancel the image and get back to windows? if there isn't, would it screw anything up if i just simply turned off the computer to cancel writing the image?

ok, i have now realized this was a terrible idea to do this through usb! how the hell can i stop this stupid image from being written?!

well since i'm really impatient and none of you bastards are replying to my question, i'm just going to go to try turning off the computer off or unplugging the drive. hopefully it won't mess up anything!

well, turning off the comp worked but when i tried to write the image to the new partition i made, it is still trying to write the original image. i cant find a place in ghost to tell it to forget about the first image. how can i cancel the first image?

none of you bastards are replying to my question,
Well this was 5 minutes after your first post! Do you think that there is someone that just sits in front of their computer and keeps refreshing the thread so they can answer in 4 minutes?
I would give you a solution but being a bastard I think I will pass.

Bleep

i wonder why too ....

on high compression, GHOST compresses that 5 gigs down to 3 or so.

3,000 MBs ....

USB1.1 can transfer 700 MBs in 15 minutes ....

have fun ...
