i just fixed my buddy's comp and am currently making a hard drive image just in case he screws up his computer again. there is about 5 gigs of data on the drive, the image is set on medium compression, and the image is being written to an external usb 1.0 hd.
My qeustions are:
why is this taking so long? it is only at 5% and it's been going for about an hour and a half. I think that this might be is because the computer doesn't support usb 2.0, and the data is crawling to the external hd.
would it be better to make another partition in the the computer's hard drive and save the image to that partition? if so, is there anyway to cancel the image and get back to windows? if there isn't, would it screw anything up if i just simply turned off the computer to cancel writing the image?
