Questions about getting an remote car starter for a 2002 Mercury Cougar

I want to install an remote starter in my wife's 2002 Mercury Cougar. It has a keyless entry system which unlocks the doors, pops the trunk, sets the alarm.

Is it possible to install a remote starter and still keep the factory stuff intact? Would I have to replace the factory remote?

Anyone have any ideas on which brand/model/features to buy? I looked on JC Whitney.com and there are so many different ones, all around $70-100 it seems. Im lost.

Also, any thoughts on self installing? I have installed car stereos, amplifiers, speakers, etc in the past so I would say I am pretty handy, but if it is too complicated I would rather just let a professional do it.

Thanks in advance for replies!

it is extremely difficult, bring it to your local car audio place

Is this your personal opinion, or are you speaking from experience? Can you elaborate a bit... i.e. what is so difficult about it, etc.

Would you say its about as difficult, as, say, linking your heatware acct in your profile?

You have an anti-theft key transponder system on that car, so you need a security bypass module and an extra key in order to make it work.
