It's called a charging conference. They hash out the jury instructions before "charging" the jury with the case. One of the things decided will be what lesser charges the jury can choose.

Apparently the wishes of the prosecutor have the most weight in the charging conference. If the prosecutor wants to include a lesser charge, it will probably be included.

Can someone sum up the prosecution and defense in a single sentence each?
I have not followed this at all, but the shooting seems unjustified.

Prosecution: Zimmerman didn't like the black kid in his neighborhood, so he followed him around, they got into a fight and he shot Martin during the fight.

Defense: Zimmerman followed the kid around because he looked to be a thug, the thug jumped out and attacked Zimmerman; he defended himself against risk of death from fists.

Is that about right?

I agree with this 100%. He didn't put on all that fat because he is enjoying this. It has probably been a hellacious year and a half for him and there is no way he does not wish he had just stayed inside that night and eaten ice cream.

Eh, are you sure? I mean, you know that he knocked his own head on the concrete after shooting Trayvon in the back (but making it look like he was shot from the front). He's probably this evil sociopath racist killer who's putting on the weight (or even is wearing a fatsuit) to fool the world.

The riots won't be too bad, will they? I just want this whole ordeal to be over.

What really happened: Zimmerman thought Trayvon Martin was a thug. Trayvon Martin proved him right by trying to beat the shit out of him. He picked the wrong mofo to beat up that day. Bye bye thug.

YEP!

I am not happy about it though. This guy had no right to play cop. I know this kind of asshat, he's like my brother: any chance at power so he can try to swing his tiny dick arround

Briefly, yes this is a pretty good summary of the case.

I happen to think that the evidence supports the defense's theory.

You know if a corrupt jury does find him "not guilty" then, I don't know if I could convict the person that takes justice into his own hands, and does away with Zimmerman.

Banned? I'm fairly sure this sort of stuff wins points.

Seems very likely judge will allow.

Seems unlikely that the jury would reject M2 and manslaughter due to self defense, and then decide that the same self defense was agg assault.

But again, juries are always a crap shoot.

They may decide to satisfy everyone by convicting GZ of the agg assault, thinking it will be a short sentence, and then be upset to find out they have actually sentenced GZ to a long stretch.

Just to be clear, I was not advocating for violence or murder. I was advocating for justice.

You were very clear on what you want. Now, being a spineless little bitch, you are pretending otherwise. You are advocating for vigilante justice--somebody goes and murders George Zimmerman.

That's why I quoted your post, so that you couldn't edit it out.

Yes, yes, justice is murdering someone in cold blood for having defended his life from a thug that posed a potentially lethal threat.

legit argument there.
