Questions about Fallout 3 and leveling

I started playing Fallout 3 when it was first released and I loved it, but it did'nt take long before I had reached the maximum level. That kind of killed a lot of the fun for me and I basically stopped playing, I'm curious now if there are any mods (official or otherwise) that addresses the leveling issue. I'd prefer a mod where there is no level cap, anything out there like that?

Since I've been out of Fallout scene for awhile, what are some good mods worth looking into?

I havnt played in a few months but I believe the last expansion lifted the level cap to 30.

As for mods I don't remember the name but there was one I used on one go though that would let you level to 21 get your perk then leveled you down to 20 to go from there. I think there were some issues when just flat out leveling beyond the cap.

Though I prefered the Mods that slowed down leveling so that you didnt max out 1/3 of the way through the game.

The mod that I enjoied the most? I think it was called "More from where that came from" it increased the songs played on GNR by (up to) 100 songs.

There was also one that bumped up the number of spawns, regenerated ghouls that were not killed with a headshot as well as put neigh ghouls in outdoor regions at night. That was pretty fun, really had to use steath from time to time becasue if you got caught off guard you could have 20-30 ghouls running at you. Not to mention mutant camps with a dozen minigun toteing brutes.

Yeah, Broken Steel lifts the level cap to 30, adds new perks, and allows you to continue playing beyond the ending of the main quest. I'm stuck at 22 or 23 though, as there isn't that much more stuff to do. I guess I need to wait for Point Lookout.

You don't need a mod anymore. as pointed out, the mini-expansion lifts the cap to 30 which is enough imo.

Will installing Broken Steel right away ruin the main game? Also are there any mods that allow unlimited leveling without crashes, bugginess, etc..?

You still need to mod the game. The game sucked without modding it. Now I'm actually enjoying it after modding it heavily.

No. Broken Steel only raises the level cap to 30, but the content itself actually takes place after the main quest. Not to spoil this if you didn't know, but with the original ending the game was over once you completed the main quest line, and you had to load a previous saved game if you wanted to explore or complete side quests. Broken Steel lets you finish the main quest line, but adds more story so you can keep playing.

That's entirely subjective of course. I loved the game without any mods.

30 is not even close to being enough; I hit 35-40 just by doing the vanilla game with no DLCs installed.

I forget the website, but you can download a lot of mods. Level cap mods, ammo mods, you name it. The only one I used was level cap. My interest left me as soon as I hit the last scene of the game. When you get abducted. After that, for whatever reason, I quit. Search google and you'll find the level cap mod. Should make things more enjoyable

edit: ^ pre-mini-"expansion"

Don't take the swift learner perks (3 in total for +30% more exp from everything) and you'll be fine with the Broken Steel DLC. You will probably need to do 75% of the side quests and all 3 DLCs to hit 30 without that perk.

Plus there's plenty to get aside from the levels. New DLC-unique perks, weapons and all the bobbleheads to collect. Plus the stories of the places you find are really cool (well, most of them anyway :p) The game is very easy even on the hardest difficulty though, especially if you play smart. Hell, all out in a Power Armor is also easily doable. You have tons of Stimpacks anyway :)
