Questions about Dual Processor System???

I?m looking at building a new system and my friend who is helping me is recommending that I go with a Dual AMD socket 940 Opteron system. I?m a casual computer user, I play some games mainly by myself not into network gaming, surf the net, do some photo/video editing and burning DVD/CD?s. I don?t do any of the above professionally and it would strictly be for home use only, but I like knowing my PC could handle any of the tasks above without bogging down and running like turtle. Also I would like to keep the price down a little bit if possible sort of the best bang for my buck theory is what I prescribe to.

My question is if the following system over kill(which I believe it is) and if so why and what would you recommend in its place.

Processors: Dual 1.8 GHz Opteron Sledgehammers
Motherboard: iWill DK8N
Memory: 2 Gigs of Ram per CPU
Video Card:Radeon X800-XT
Storage: two 74 Gig Raptors Raid 0 & two Maxtor Maxline 300 Gig Raid 1
Power Supply: Antec Neo 480 watt Power supply
Case: Full Tower Thermaltake Armor
CD/DVD Drives: NEC DVD 16x Burner & Samsung DVD

I know I'm a Newbie, but any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!! 🙂

If you do none of this professionaly, it's a complete waste of money. For casual home use a mid-range socket 939 setup will do you good and will save you a ton of money.
