Questions about Devry

I've heard of Devry many times before on TV and such, and never really paid much attention to it, but now that I know just a BIT about it, I want to know more:

1) How does it compare to a junior college or university?
2) How much does it cost to get in?
3) How hard is it to get in/What do you need do get in?
4) What kind of jobs could I expect after completing it?
5) How long is a plan?
6) What else?

Devry is about $300+ per credit hour. Most classes are 4 credit hrs or more. They also don't transfer anywhere and they don't accept transfers. Devry will also charge a $25 graduation fee, parking fee, walking down the hall fee, drinking from the water fountain fee, breathing fee. They nickle and dime you to death. DON'T GO THERE!

They are NOT accreditted! If you wanted to transfer to a real four-year school, you would have to start over from the beginning!

Yeah I'd check into like a junior college where you can get like a CIS/MIS degree in 2 years. Here credit hours are $45 an hour.....

Not accrededited? Where did you get that from. Other colleges don't accept their credits, but they're accredited, at least their IT major is, its 3 year program for a Bachellor's degree. I would go, but I'm kind of hung up on their whole image, and businesses I've asked about don't really view it as a real college institution, still more of a trade school. Although if I don't get accepted into VT or JMU, I'll probably end up going.

well several of my friends went to devry instead of ohlone or de anza and they're not exactly what you would call dedicated students...so i don't think its too hard to get in...people i've talked to suggested going to a regular college (UC, State, or CC) cause you have more options...you should talk to your school counselor to see what options are available to you...but ohlone isn't so bad i start my 2nd semester of college next wednesday...

Don't discount the liberal arts side of a four year degree. When an employer goes to trim the fat, who do you think will be the first to go? The guy who only know's about computers, or the guy who has taken accounting, economics, business, speach AND computer classes?

vi_edit: yeah, that's true too, DeVry prepares you for certain types of jobs and thats about it...you won't look as good compared to a guy that studied other things and dedicated at least 4 years to school...
