Questions about CPU and Video in budget rig

Which CPU would be faster?

Intel Pentium Dual-Core Processor E5200 2.5GHz 800MHz 2MB LGA775 CPU, Retail $76

or

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual-Core Processor 5400+ AM2, Retail $65

Do not plan on any overclocking and rig use will be primarily for gaming (SCII/wow).

Also which GPU out of these two?

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD4670 512MB DDR3 2DVI/HDCP PCI-Express Video Card, Retail $85

or

Sapphire ATI Radeon HD3850 512MB 2DVI/HDCP PCI-Express Video Card, Retail $85

Thanks!

e5200 + 4670

But you should know, you can get a 4830 for like $90AR with free shipping at newegg. Considerably better horsepower than either of those cards.

One note, you said you'll be playing WoW with this rig, now either dual core should be fine for most games, I'd favor the e5200 though but in the case of WoW, I was under the impression you'd need a quad-core for some of the heavily populated areas, whether it be towns or dungeons or whatever. SC2 is going to be somewhat light on a system compared to other modern games, it's what Blizzard is best at (WoW excluded).

Great idea, will be going with Sapphire 4830 512mb PCI-E card, same price as newegg.

For power supply, I'm using this:

parkle ATX-450PN-B204 450W ATX 12V Power Supply

Should be more than enough for Non-OCing duties you think?

And one last question, is there any difference between the Core 2 and Pentium D dual cores?

Or go with something from a more well-known company that's much cheaper and still going to power everything you have just fine: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371005
And if you think it's not enough, this is still cheaper: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817371006

Wow thanks, great info! 😀

Will definitely get the Earthwatts 430!

As for RAM what you think of G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 and Asus P5B-MX for the mobo?

Thanks

Well...not really sure what to say about the board, but if you want a cheaper board there's the boards with integrated gpu's, doesn't get much cheaper than those (new of course). And the gpu's are all fine for budget systems, unless it's a budget gaming rig in which you need a decent discrete solution, but even then the onboard makes trouble shooting easier 😛 Is this a budget gaming rig btw?

As for the memory, if you don't believe in rebates, that's one of the best values out there 🙂
